- Conclusions
The easiest modes without AA and anisotropy: approximate parity with optimizations, and the defeat of X700XT without them. A.I. activation, especially High, yields its fruit.
With enabled AA: X700XT is victorious, taking into account that 6600GT failed with ÀÀ.
With enabled anisotropy: X700XT managed to snatch a victory only in the High optimization mode, 6600GT is the leader in all the other cases. AF optimizations in X700 are very productive. We'll have to examine the quality.
The final heaviest mode with AA and anisotropy: the video card from ATI managed to get the yellow jersey due to ÀÀ, but only in case of the enabled High optimization.
Thus, on the whole:
- RADEON X700XT versus RADEON 9800 PRO (ATHLON64 3400+) - victory
- RADEON X700XT versus RADEON 9800 XT (ATHLON64 3400+) - victory
- RADEON X700XT versus GeForce 6600GT - victory only with High A.I.
- RADEON X700XT versus GeForce 6800LE (ATHLON64 3400+) - defeat
- RADEON X700XT with the LOW OPTIMIZATION versus RADEON X700XT WITHOUT OPTIMIZATIONS - obvious effect
- RADEON X700XT with the HIGH OPTIMIZATION versus RADEON X700XT WITHOUT OPTIMIZATIONS - it's even stronger here. We should examine the quality - what's the cost of such optimization, is it really free?
X700XT is defeated by 6600GT in all modes. Optimizations help, but very little.
Thus, on the whole:
- RADEON X700XT versus RADEON 9800 PRO (ATHLON64 3400+) - victory
- RADEON X700XT versus RADEON 9800 XT (ATHLON64 3400+) - victory
- RADEON X700XT versus GeForce 6600GT - defeat
- RADEON X700XT versus GeForce 6800LE (ATHLON64 3400+) - defeat
- RADEON X700XT with the LOW OPTIMIZATION versus RADEON X700XT WITHOUT OPTIMIZATIONS - a decent gain from A.I. is demonstrated only with active anisotropy
- RADEON X700XT with the HIGH OPTIMIZATION versus RADEON X700XT WITHOUT OPTIMIZATIONS - the same picture
Quality should be examined, though the entire scene is dark and it'll be hard to find anything.
We express our thanks to ATI for the video cards provided to our lab.
