Fujitsu confirmed fact of the negotiations with flash memory production partner, AMD, about further cooperation in this segment.

According to The Financial Times, Fujitsu and AMD negotiate to converge production capacities and organize a new joint venture for flash memory production. AMD share is expected to be 60%, Fujitsu will own other 40%. The venture creation will supposedly be announced in January 2003.

According to Gartner Group, in 2001 Intel occupied the first place in the flash memory market with the 25.7% of world production. The second and third places were taken by AMD and Fujitsu, respectively. After the asset convergence production volumes of the new venture wil make 23.4%.
