OCZ Launches First Memory Series With EPP

OCZ Technology announced the PC2-7200 Platinum Series -- the introduction to OCZ’s memory line with Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP). The new PC2-7200 Platinum EPP modules are exclusively designed with advanced SPD settings to allow compatible motherboards to recognize and utilize the added operation data, increasing the performance potential of the entire platform.

The mission of Enhanced Performance Profiles is to offer optimized system operation and compatibility through the collaboration and integration of OCZ configured SPD (Serial Presence Detect) settings and BIOS designs on NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI-based motherboards. Only motherboards equipped with the custom-designed BIOS, such as those designed for NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCPs, can detect the optimized SPD profiles of the EEP-based modules and ensure the memory overclocks under the best possible conditions.

Specifications:

  • 900MHz DDR2
  • EPP 4-4-3-15 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
  • Available in 2GB (2x1024) dual channel kits (P/N: OCZ2N9002GK)
  • Also available in a 1GB modules
  • Unbuffered
  • Platinum Mirrored XTC Heatspreader
  • Lifetime Warranty

Intel To Present 9W TDP Processor Next Month

According to the source, on June 25 Intel is to announce several new mobile processors on Yonah core with 9W TDP (5.5W for budget models).

Exactly this TDP will have the new Core Duo U2500 operating at 1.2GHz and featuring 2MB of L2 cache and 533MHz FSB. It will support virtualization technology, Enhanced SpeedStep, Åxecute Disable Bit.

The Core Duo U2500 is to become the most economical of all dual-core processors. Though its performance per watt might not be the best - remember the VIA C7-M ULV with TDP of 3.5 to 7.5 Watts. Still, according to preliminary information, Intel's new solution is promised to perform twice as faster than C7-M ULV 1.5GHz.

Besides the aforementioned novelty (MSRP of which will make $289), the company will introduce a budget Celeron M 423 with 5.5W TDP operating at 1.06GHz and featuring 1MB of L2 cache and 533 MHz FSB. Its MSRP will make $161.
