MSI P4N Diamond on NF4 SLI IE: automatic mode switching

40th Anniversary Of Moore´s Law

In 1965, while working on an article for the Electronics magazine, Gordon Moore, the future founder of Intel Corp., formulated the idea of microprocessing industry development. According to it, transistor cost price reduces each year, while transistor amount per crystal doubles. In 1975 he changed the wording, so these changed take two years instead of one.

April 19 is the 40th anniversary of the Moore´s Law, a prediction, emripic rule, theoretical extrapolation or whatever else that still reflects the development of computer industry.

MSI P4N Diamond on NF4 SLI IE: automatic mode switching

Six weeks after IDF Spring 2005, at which the P4N Diamond motherboard was showcased, MSI officially launched sales of this novelty.

The board supports Intel Pentium 4 XE, Pentium 4 6xx and 5xx processors. It´s interesting that the press release claims possible overclocking of DDR2 modules up to 933MHz. For this purpose you can also use proprietary MSI D.O.T. Express monitoring feature.

The P4N Diamond has Digital SLI Switch capable of automatic recognition of two graphics cards for which SLI mode is possible as 2 x PCI-Express x8.

The BIOS of P4N Diamond is optimized for 3-2-2-8 (1T) timings (supported by Corsair modules, for example. Next, the SiliconImage SATA2 RAID controller utilizes PCI Express instead of PCI.

MSI P4N Diamond is bundled with P4N Diamond Dual SATA Bracket offering 2 x SATA ports for for internal and external devices and NVRAID 2.0 utility.

The motherboard features Creative 7.1 Channel High-Definition Audio (24-bit Sound Blaster Live!) with Dolby Digital EX certificate. There´s also a socket for MSI Dual-Net 802.11b/g module that allows to use P4N Diamond based machine as a wireless access point.
