RightMark CPU Clock Utility v1.5 Is Released!

Changes to this version include:

  • Returned Balloon tooltips setting.
  • Removed "Alternate CPU Load Determination" setting from APP UI.
  • Added more configurational options for AMD K8.
  • Added Transmeta LongRun Technology support.
  • Added independent AC and Battery performance/power profiles.
  • Added warning messages for settings that require application restart.
  • Duplicated tray icon settings in the General tab.

CPU RightMark Lite 2005, Cross-Platform Edition For x86/IA-64 Is Released!

RightMark team released the new CPU RM Lite 2005, cross-platform edition for x86/IA-64. The features and differences from the full version are as follows:

  • Features CPU Performance test only.
  • No support for batch files for now.
  • FPU/SSE2/SSE3 Solver and FPU+MMX/FPU+EMMX/SSE/SSE3 Renderer modules (no 3DNow!/extended 3DNow! support)
  • Drawing into a window using system memory (cached/uncached modes), requires no DirectX hardware/software.
  • Support for x86-64 platform is planned for the future.
  • Full source code is available.
  • New features:
    • Improved Renderer texture-mapping routines.
    • Improved Renderer multi-threading (SMP/Hyper-Threading) support, fixed Solver module performance issues when running on a CPU with Hyper-Therading technology with multiple rendering threads.
    • Automatic setting of Renderer threads count to the number of logical processors present in the system.

HP Compaq nw8240: A Notebook To Replace A Workstation

On April 21 Hewlett Packard Japan launches sales of HP Compaq nw8240 wide-format notebooks with 15.4" WUXGA displays (1920x1200). Judging by interfaces and graphics, we suppose these novelties are intended for professional work.

The company will also be selling a "simpler" model with a mere WSXGA+ display (1680x1050). Both will feature MOBILITY FireGL V5000 128MB, Intel 915PM chipset and Windows XP Professional. Other features include: 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x IEEE1394, 1 x PCMCIA Type II, COM, RS-232, modem and IrDA.

Sized 356x264x28mm, the each notebook weighs 2.63kg. Claimed operation time ranges from 3 to 5 hours.

The senior model bases on Pentium M 770 2.13GHz CPU and has 2GB RAM, DVD±R/RW drive and IEEE 802.11a/b/g adapter. It will be priced $3,900.

The junior notebook bases on Pentium M 740 1.73GHz, has 512MB RAM, DVD±R/RW drive and IEEE 802.11a/b/g as well. This one will cost $2,450.

Samsung Launches Volume Production Of 256MB MMC Micro, 512MB Gets Closer

Samsung Electronics officially launched volume production of 256MB MMC Micro media.

Sized 24x32x1.4mm, cards support 7MB/s write, 10MB/s read, withstand 10K rewrite cycles and power from 1.8V or 3.3V.

Of course, the novelties are positioned for cell phones and other smart handhelds.

At the moment Samsung MMC Micro series includes 32MB, 64MB, 128MB and 256MB cards. This month we should also expect 512MB media, 2GB monsters coming in H2 2006.
