SanDisk also introduces new CF and PC Card media at Electronica 2004 Besides industrial Secure Digital and TransFlash novelties, at Electronica 2004 SanDisk also introduced 4 GB and 8 GB industrial Compact Flash cards as well as 8 GB and 16 GB PC Card media. 256 MB and higher-capacity cards provide throughputs up to 20 MB/s. CF and PC Card media are naturally able to work in extended temperature range, have prolonged MTBF (up to 3 million vs. 1 million of usual cards), and can withstand harder shocks (30 g vibration, 3000 g impact resistance). Other features are identical to those of usual cards:
According to the press release, new solutions will be available in this December for the yet negotiated price.
BRF6300: the first Digital RF Bluetooth adapter from Texas Instruments Texas Instruments released the new Bluetooth adapter chip that is one of a few made using 90nm process. The novelty is designed for 2.5G and 3G mobile handsets. BRF6300 is based on TI Digital RF technology (digital-analog processing of high-frequency signals) that unites core logic and RF part in a single chip. Initially such modules were to be made using 130nm process. The new Bluetooth adapter meets EDR specifications implying 3 Mbps throughputs and requires about 100 µA current. BRF6300 is to be sampling in Q2 2005, while volume production is scheduled to Q4 of the same year.
SanDisk showcases industrial memory modules at Electronica 2004 In a month after the introduction of the first 256 MB TransFlash memory modules, SanDisk showcased two new solutions for industrial and car electronics: 1 GB Secure Digital and 256 MB TransFlash. Unlike the previous novelties, modules showcased at Electronica 2004 in Munich are able to work in extended temperature range from –40°C to +185°C.
![]() Industrial Secure Digital modules are made using 90nm process technology and provide write speed up to 20 MB/s and 2 million hours MTBF. TransFlash, initially designed for mobile handsets, doesn´t provide speeds as fast, but has only 11x15x1 mm size. The latter can be plugged into Secure Digital readers with adapters.
