BRF6300: the first Digital RF Bluetooth adapter from Texas Instruments
Texas Instruments released the new Bluetooth adapter chip that is one of a few made using 90nm process. The novelty is designed for 2.5G and 3G mobile handsets.
BRF6300 is based on TI Digital RF technology (digital-analog processing of high-frequency signals) that unites core logic and RF part in a single chip. Initially such modules were to be made using 130nm process.
The new Bluetooth adapter meets EDR specifications implying 3 Mbps throughputs and requires about 100 µA current.
BRF6300 is to be sampling in Q2 2005, while volume production is scheduled to Q4 of the same year.
