ATI RADEON X800XT-non-PE AGP is on sale without any official announcements! And yet again an unpleasant surprise in High-End graphics camp. This one comes from ATI this time. It hasn´t been long since the announcement of GeForce 6800LE sold as fully-fledged GeForce 6800 cards, but now in Moscow we found X800XT cards that look the same as X800XT Platinum Edition products, but instead of 520/560 (1120) MHz have 500/500 (1000) MHz clock rates. We saw products from Sapphire, but remembering that such cards are made by ATI´s order, while other vendors purchase ready cards, similar products may arrive from other vendors as well. Pity, but ATI Technologies (as if it doesn´t need its reputation to be that good) hasn´t informed anyone about X800XT AGP cards. Until this moment X800XT-non-PE cards were officially related to PCI-Express segment only. According to this page: RADEON X800 graphics technology is available in two bus configurations from ATI: AGP bus configuration (8X/4X/Universal AGP 3.0) and PCI Express™ bus configuration. AGP bus configuration (8X/4X/Universal AGP 3.0):
PCI Express™ bus configuration:
We expected ATI non-PE cards to be released sooner or later, but we didn´t think it would come without any announcements... We want to warn you to be careful when you buy, because it´s a matter of about $600! Obtain the exact specs from store managers, because card appearance won´t let you distinguish X800XT PE from a non-PE.
