Maxtor ships 250 GB and 300 GB Maxtor SATA Ultra16 kits
Maxtor launched shipments of new 250 GB and 300 GB Maxtor SATA Ultra16 kits ($240 and $280, respectively). According to the press release, Parallel ATA Ultra16 solutions will be introduced in Q4 this year.
The main feature of kit drives is 16 MB buffer and Native Command Queuing (NCQ). Before the series included 80 GB, 120 GB, 160 GB, 200 GB and 250 GB 7200 rpm products with 8 MB buffers. Traditionally, the bundle includes MaxBlast software for formatting, partitioning, etc.
These products are designed for systems requiring high-capacity storage, including multimedia PCs, servers, workstations. New products can work with both PC and Mac systems. Besides, users can connect them to either external SATA controller, or motherboard connectors.
