Iomega announces its first DVD/CD-RW drive Iomega announced its first DVD/CD-RW drive, Dual DVD ATAPI, supporting 4x2.4x12x (DVD) / 16x10x40x (CD-RW) speeds. The device supports DVD, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM formats. The retail box includes MyDVD, Sonic Cineplayer, Sonic MyDVD, MusicMatch Jukebox and Adobe ActiveShare software. In retail the drive should cost from $330.

Melco offers PCI and CardBus FireWire/USB solutions Melco Inc. released two USB2.0/IEEE1394 interface cards, one of them being a CardBus (IFC-CB2IU2/UC), and the other (IFC-PCI7IU2) – PCI board. The novelties should arrive for sale in mid- or late June for about $74 and $36. IFC-CB2IU2/UC features 1 USB (USB A) and 1 IEEE1394 (4-pin) ports supporting the maximum of 480Mbps USB throughput and 400Mbps IEEE1394 throughput. It consumes up to 1.3W. Sized 54x121x13mm, it weighs about 47g.  IFC-PCI7IU2 offers more ports: 3 external and 1 internal USB; 2 external and 1 internal IEEE1394. This one consumes 2.5W and needs 500mA (excluding the port output). Sized 120x94x10mm, it weighs about 70g (excluding the mounting bracket).
MSI CR52-A2 52/24/52 CD-R/RW @ Bjorn3D "One of the most important aspects in my opinion about a drive like this is value, and I think the CR52-A2 is a good value. Additionally, I think the average user would be quite happy with its performance, especially with higher rated media. MSI has packed in some good features and thankfully included good software. Logitec releases two PC Card adapters supporting 4 flash memory formats Logitec released two PC Card Type II adapter models: LMC-CA41AD2 and LMC-CA41AD2/U (USB) to become available in early and mid-June for $36 and $46, respectively. Adapters support 4 flash memory formats: Memory Stick / SD / MMC / Smart Media. Actually Memory Stick Pro are supported as well (serial transfers only). HWZ review: TDK Dual Format +/- 4x DVD Writer "Optical drives from TDK have always never failed to take our notice, and our eyes certainly did not let go of the new Dual Format +/- 4x DVD Writer (DVW+A040212N) throughout the various benchmarks we put it through. And you can´t blame us for it, because this TDK DVD writer is certainly one of the best-looking drive we´ve seen around (okay, so that´s just our personal opinion). Dell announces new Inspiron 500m, Latitude D800 and Latitude D400 on 1.70GHz Pentium M Dell announced new models for its Inspiron 500m, Latitude D800 and Latitude D400 series, dating it to the release of Intel’s new 1.70GHz Pentium M. Besides the new CPU, Inspiron 500m features have almost remained the same: 14.1" SXGA+ display, i855GM chipset, Intel PRO/Wireless, 512Mb PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 60Gb Ultra ATA/100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW combo, a variety of interfaces, 2.5-hour battery. Sized 315x259x31mm, it weighs 2.46kg. With Windows XP Home Edition SP1 the model will cost about $2300 in Japan.
 The Latitude D800 series was updated with a model featuring 15.4" WUXGA display, i855PM chipset, Intel PRO/Wireless, 64Mb GeForce4 4200 Go, Gigabit Ethernet. Sized 361x276x39mm, it weighs 3.1kg. With 1Gb PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 60Gb Ultra ATA/100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW combo and Windows 2000 Pro (SP3) / XP Pro SP1 / XP Home Edition SP1 the notebook will cost $3400.
 Miniature Latitude D400 now includes a model on 1.70GHz Pentium M as well. It has 12.1" display, i855GM chipset, 256Mb PC2100 DDR SDRAM, 20Gb Ultra ATA/100 HDD, external CD-RW and Windows 2000 Pro (SP3) / XP Pro SP1 / XP Home Edition SP1.
