128Mbit SDRAM spot prices exceed 256Mbit prices On Monday, traditionally not very active, 128Mbit SDRAM spot prices grew by 10%, having exceeded 256Mbit prices. Three days of the last week were marked by DRR and SDRAM chips and modules prices growth. 256 and 128 Mbit SDRAM chips cost $4.06 and $3.75, respectively; DDR – $3.65 and $1.82, respectively. From the late February SDRAM prices are affected by limited shipments. Memory makers focus on DDR and, according to observers, system builders favor this type of memory more and more. The latest price increase is the result of chip resupply by module makers and dstributors, as the rapid demand growth is expected after Iraq war ends. Anyway, if the war ends in the near future, SDRAM demand growth will exceed the demand for DDR, as it’s more widely used in consumer electronics. And actions of Taiwanese memory makers, which haven’t urged to re-equip production lines for SDRAM being wary about the volume releases of Intel chipsets, seem to be the smartest in this situation. HWZ review: ASUS P4PE Black Pearl (Intel 845PE) "The ASUS P4PE Black Pearl is nothing too out of the ordinary except for its tretreasure chest packaging design. In terms of features, it is just a basic motherboard with only an on-board Fast Ethernet controller. Although we found a lot of areas vacated for other devices such as Serial ATA and FireWire, ASUS does not seem to have any plans to make them as optional features..."Read more at HardwareZone.
