Fuji Film announces 256Mb xD-Picture Cards Today Fuji Photo Film officially announced 256Mb xD-Picture Cards. As you know, this announcement was expected in December, but had been delayed for some reason. 256Mb xD-Picture Cards added to the Fuji Film´s flash card line that already includes 16Mb, 32Mb, 64Mb and 128Mb. Again, these cards are measured 20x25x1.7 mm, xD-Picture Card is currently supported by several digital cameras from Fuji Film and Olympus. Sony Clie NZ90: new PDA with 2-mp digital camera At CES 2003 in Las Vegas Sony announced new Clie PEG-NZ90 PDA with a built-in digital camera.The novelty features the popular flip design, 320x480 LCD display, MP3-player, dictaphone function, remote control. The built-in digital camera supports up to 1600x1200 image resolution), features manual exposure, 2x digital zoom, timer, flash, etc. Shots can be saved to Memory Stick after processing. Besides, Clie NZ90 has integrated Bluetooth module and Wi-Fi (802.11b) slot for PEGA-WL100 Wi-Fi (802.11b), for example. For the first time in the CLIE series, CLIE NZ90 features PEGA-BP500 SmartLITHIUM Li-Ion removable battery, providing up to 10 days of operation (about 30min/day active working w/o backlighting). Clie PEG-NZ90 will arrive to retail in February, MSRP $800. PEGA-UC90 cradle and PEGA-BP500 battery will cost $80 each, PEGA-WL100 Wi-Fi modem will cost about $150.
CES 2003, Creative: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX and MegaWorks THX 6.1 650 At CES 2003 Creative Technology announced the line of new products, including the new Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX soundcard and 6.1-ch. MegaWorks THX 6.1 650 sound system.Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX, added to Audigy 2-based familt of solutions, resembles the previous products, but unlike Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum 2, bundled with a front-panel module, new Audigy 2 Platinum eX features the external multi-purpose module with card controls, interfaces, remote control receiver, etc. Besides, Creative presented the new 6.1-ch. MegaWorks THX 6.1 650 sound system, featuring 6 satellites and a subwoofer, providing 600W of Burst Power. I guess more details are to follow.
ViewSonic presents portable video-player At Consumer Electronics Show ViewSonic announced plans to release portable video-players together with Intel and Microsoft.The company announced its ViewSonic PVP (Portable Video Player) brand compatible with M2000 and M1000 Digital Media Centers. PVP is to combine an MP3 and DVD players with portable digital photo album. ViewSonic PVP will be based on Microsoft Media2Go platform and feature 3.5" 240õ320 LCD display and up to 10Gb hard disk.
Thermaltake announces Xaser III line of PC cases Thermaltake announced Xaser III line of PC cases with expected availability in Q1 2003. Xaser III solutions feature larger sidewindow, improved HardCano front-panel module, and LED-lit Thermaltake logo.HardCano enables to control speeds of 4 system fans, built-in heat sensors provide information about critical temperatures if any. Currently the company website contains the descriptions of 6 new Thermaltake Xaser III cases.
SmartDisk releases FirePower hard drives with FireWire 800 support SmartDisk released the line of external FirePower hard drives, supporting the new FireWire 800 standard, also supported by some of Apple’s PCs. Along with IEEE1394b, FirePower drives support IEEE1394a as well as USB2.0. FirePower solutions are based on 3.5" 7200rpm hard disks with 200Gb capacity and 8Mb buffer. The interface bases on OXFW922 chip from British Oxford Semiconductor. FirePower hard drives are expected in retail in March 2003. PENTAX OptioS: 3õ optical lens, 3.2 million pixels in 20mm-thick body PENTAX announced PENTAX OptioS digital compact camera, featuring 3.2-mp 3õ optical lens and just 20mm-thick body.The official press release undiscloses the secret of thin 20-mm body: the central lens group is shifted from the optical axis (the proprietary Sliding Lens technology). The lens feature 6 elements in 5 groups and 35-105mm focal length in 35mm equiv.
Additionally, the camera supports 2õ digital zoom. Shutter lag is about 0.01 s. the following shooting modes are supported: Program, Picture, Night Scene, Movie, Panorama Assist, 3D image, Digital Filter, and User. Movie mode also enables audio comment recording.
The body is made of aluminium alloy with 1.6" LCD display on the back. L x W dimensions make 83õ52 mm, weight 115 g w/battery and MMC card. PENTAX OptioS is expected for sale in April 2003.
