2.80 GHz Intel Xeon to be released in the 3rd quarter

According to the latest Web reports, Intel successfully masters 0.13 micron process technology and plans to release 2.80 GHz Xeon this quarter though it has been expected closer to the year-end. Most of company´s server strategy remains unchanged also indicating Intel´s assurance in the timely release of the next generation of Gallatin-based Xeon. The announce is still planned to the 1Q, 2003. First, we´ll see the 2 GHz, 1.9 GHz, and 1.5 GHz chips with 2 MB, 1 MB, and 1 MB L3 cache, respectively.

2.80 GHz Xeon, expected soon, are to be used with previous Serverworks GC-HE and E7500 chipsets; the new Xeon chipset — E7501 — supporting 533 MHz FSB is to appear only the next quarter.

Pentium III-S CPUs with 512 KB cache are to quit the stage closer to the end of 2002.

Gainward GeForce4 Ti4200 featuring 3.3 ns memory

Gainward announced the new version of its Ti4200-based GeForce4 PowerPack! Model Ultra/650 TV/DVI "Golden Sample".


Unlike the predecessor based on NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4200, it has 64 MB 3.3 ns memory enabling 270/570 MHz core/clock rate. The card features VGA, DVI, and TV outputs. The expected European price is 250 euro (including taxes).

Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1: the new sound of Hercules

Hercules plans to present the new Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 sound card following the Gamesurround Fortissimo II.

As the name shows, the product will be capable of streaming sound to multichannel acoustics up to 7.1-channel configurations.

Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 specifications:

  • Bus: PCI 2.1
  • DSP processor: Cirrus Logic SoundFusion CS4624 (the same as in Gamesurround Fortissimo II)
  • Codecs: 20-bit 4-channel and 18-bit stereo outputs, up to 48 KHz sampling
  • Compatibility: Sensaura 3D, Microsoft DirectSound 3D support, EAX 1.0, EAX 2.0, A3D 1.0, I3DL2, MacroFX, MultiDrive, ZoomFX, EnvironmentFX; Microsoft DirectSound, DirectMusic, Dolby Surround, Dolby Digital
  • Dolby Digital EX 7.1 support (DVD playback)
  • Software wavetable — DSP supports unlimited voices, 64 HW voices
  • 8 MB General MIDI / GS sample bank
  • DLS 1.0 compatibility
  • GM (General Midi) and Yamaha XG (676 instruments, 21 drum sets) compatibility
  • Effects: reverb, chorus, variation, etc.
  • Analog external jacks: front speakers, rear speakers, central/LFE speakers, seventh and eighth channels, headphones; Line in / Mic in, MIDI/Game (MPU 401) port
  • Digital external jacks: optical S/PDIF
  • Internal sockets: CD-in; CD-in 2; Aux-in; S/PDIF in

The package includes the Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 board, Gamesurround Fortissimo III 7.1 addtive MIDI/Game front panel, software and manual. The product is expected in the beginning of August.

A couple of new mainstream graphic cards from Hercules

In the near future Hercules plans to start the deliveries of two new mainstream graphic cards based on ATi RADEON 7500LE (230 MHz core clock rate): 3D Prophet 7500 LE DDR 64MB and 3D Prophet 7500 LE SDR 128MB, featuring the integrated TV encoder supporting up to 1024x768 resolution in PAL & NTSC.

3D Prophet 7500 LE DDR 64MB also features 64MB DDR RAM with a 64-bit memory bus, VGA + TV out. 3D Prophet 7500 LE SDR 128MB has 128MB SDR RAM, VGA + TV out.

EP-4BEAV: a BlueTooth board from EPoX

EPoX introduced Intel 845D-based EP 4BEAV mainboard with BlueTooth capabilities.

EP 4BEAV features 3 PC2100 DDR slots for up to 2GB of memory, 5 PCI slots, 4X AGP slot, built-in 6-channel audio, 2 IDE Ultra ATA100 connectors, an integrated Ethernet RJ-45 connector, and a BlueTooth module with an antenna.



The BlueTooth Module is a low-power, wireless Personal Area Network product. It automatically searches for any BlueTooth devices present within 10 meters (approximately 32.8 ft) to create mobile Network Neighborhood with.

The BlueTooth device supports General Access, fax, file transfer, LAN Access, Object Push, and Dial-Up Networking. BlueTooth operates in the 2.40-2.49 GHz frequency range featuring 79 channels of 1 MHz BW. Internet browsing safety and privacy are provided by BlueTooth ultra secure 128-bit full-length encryption keys.
