48/16/48x CD-RW drive from LG
LG Electronics announced its new internal CD-RW drive — GCE-8480B — with E-IDE/ATAPI interface (Ultra DMA Mode 2) to appear for sale in the middle of July.
It features 48/16/48 speeds, 2 MB buffer, SuperLink buffer protection technology. The drive supports 8x, 12x, 16x (CLV), 24x (P-CAV), 32x (P-CAV), 40x (CAV), 48x (CAV) writing; 4x, 10x, 12x, 16x rewriting; 48x (CAV) reading. Read access time is about 100 ms.

We´ve got a new V8420 Deluxe board from ASUS based on GeForce4 Ti4200 GPU in our lab.
It represents interesting design remade from GF4 Ti 4600 based card (with a stereoglasses socket), has the 3.3 ns Samsung memory, unique for Ti4200-based cards. Moreover, the core/memory clock rate resemble Ti4400´s, being 260/550 MHz, respectively.
According to Andrew Worobyew, the head of our videolab, such an interesting card declines any criticism about ASUS being formal with the card making. It´s a really unique product!
New external DVD/CD-RW combo from Sony
Sony Japan announced the new external DVD/CD-RW combo — CRXP-90MU
It features 8/24/10/24 speed formula, has 8 MB buffer, supports USB 2.0, has a Sony MemoryStick slot, supports PowerBurn buffer protection technology. Using USB 1.1 the read/write speed lowers down to 6È — 8È.
The drive supports the following writing speeds: 4È, 8È (CLV); 8È-24X (Zone-CLV); rewriting speeds: 4È, 8È, and 10È (CLV); read: 24È (CD-R and CD-ROM), 12È (CD-RW), and 8È (DVD-ROM). Read access time is about 160 ms.
