Elpida Digital Consumer Division unveils its first memory chips
The Digital Consumer Division of Japanese Elpida announced its first products – 128Mbit SDRAM chips "adapted" for DVD players/recorders, video servers and printers.
According to company specialists, this division will provide more flexibility to meet the consumer demand and develop special memory meeting the existing requirements, including small size and low energy consumption.
Two unveiled series EDS1216AAxx, EDS1216Caxx – are organized 8Mx16 and require 3.3V and 2.5V voltage reducing energy consumption by 40%. Chips are made using 0.11µm process and feature 113MHz clock speed. New chips are suitable for System-in-Package (SiP) and/or MCP solutions. They can have 54-pin FBGA (8x8mm) or the standard 54-pin TSOP standardized by JEDEC.
