DRAM production: Koreans lead the way
According to online DRAM eXchange, currently Samsung Electronics and Hynix Semiconductor provide up to 49% DRAM shipments to the world market. In August their production volume made 167.7 million nominal 128 Mbit chips, that´s 4% more than July values.
Other makers can´t show similar volumes. So, Micron Technologies production volumes (North American fabs) increased by 14% and made 59 million nominal chips, however other company facilities reduced production by 1%. Totally Japanese August volumes made about 24 million nominal memory chips.
In August European DRAM production remained at the same level about 42 million nominal chips. Taiwanese reduced DRAM production volumes by 8%, to 50 million nominal chips.
