Apple announces 2x1.42GHz Power Mac and 20.1" Cinema Display
Today Apple announced a new addition to Power Mac G4 desktop line along with a new 20.1" Cinema Display.

Now the Power Mac G4 line includes a high-end system on 1.42GHz Motorola PowerPC G4 with 2Mb L3 cache, featuring 120Gb ATA/100 HDD, SuperDrive 4x DVD recorder, FireWire 800 ports, built-in 56K modem, 54Mbps AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth. Higher-end Power Mac G4 features 2Gb DDR333 SDRAM and 128Mb NVIDIA GeForce4 Titanium. Systems with 512Mb DDR333 SDRAM and 64Mb ATI Radeon 9000 Pro are also available.

Besides the above units on two 1.42GHz CPUs, Power Mac G4 line includes a system on 1GHz PowerPC G4 with 1Mb L3 cache, featuring 256Mb DDR266 SDRAM, 60Gb Ultra ATA/100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW Combo, 64Mb NVIDIA GeForce4 MX, FireWire 800, built-in 56K modem and Bluetooth. The middle model has two 1.25GHz PowerPC G4 with 1Mb L3 cache, and 256Mb DDR333 SDRAM, 80Gb Ultra ATA/100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW Combo, 64Mb ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, FireWire 800, built-in 56K modem and Bluetooth.
As for prices, having released new system, Apple announced that from now on 1GHz Power Mac G4 will cost $1499 instead of $1699, 2x1.25GHz system $1999 instead of $2499, new 2x1.42GHz system $3799.
Besides, the company has also posted a comparative diagram to illustrate the performance growth.

As for new 20.1" Apple Cinema Display, it is a wide-screen (16:10) model supporting 1680x1050 resolution offered for $1299. Now Apple´s LCD line includes 23" high-end Cinema HD with 1920x1200 resolution which now costs $3499 instead of $1999, 20.1" Cinema and 17" Studio Display with 1280x1024 resolution, which now costs $699 instead of $999.
