Public demonstration of the server chip that is expected to be launched in less than a year should emphasize readiness of the design. ![]() The prototype of the code-named Clovertown server processor utilizes two physical dice on a substrate, each of the units sport two processing engines and 4MB of unified cache, thus providing four executing cores and 8MB of cache in total. Intel has already demonstrated the new product in an attempt to show off its technological excellence. However, the company did not reveal any peculiarities of the Clovertown’s design earlier. Fully sealed PC terminal runs Windows XP Embedded VarTech Systems has introduced a fully sealed, integrated PC terminal that comes with Windows XP Embedded pre-installed. The VTPC150SE is packaged in a sealed stainless steel case that is well suited for the harsh "wash-down" requirements of dusty/dirty industrial environments, according to the company. The fanless VTPC150SE is rated to NEMA 4X (IP66) standards, according to VarTech. The device is based on a low power Via Eden processor clocked at 800 MHz, and is equipped with 256 MB of RAM (standard). A teflon-tip pen is available for precise pointing on the system's 15-inch resistive touchscreen display. ![]() The VTPC150SE's adjustable mounting bracket accommodates both wall- and desktop-mounting, as shown on the right. Once mounted, the viewing angle can be easily set to suit each user, according to the company. An optional stainless steel keyboard shelf is also available, along with a sealed keyboard. Transcend Releases 4GB DDR333/400 ECC Registered Memory Module (1.2 inches), Standard SD Cards Transcend Information introduced its 4GB DDR333/400 ECC Registered Memory Module (P/N: TS512MDR72V3/4T) that measures 1.2 inches high, making it suitable for high-end computing systems, such as the IBM eServer xSeries 326, Sun fire V20z/V40z and Compaq Proliant DL145/DL585 server. ![]() The 4GB DDR333/400 ECC Registered memory module consists of 256Mbx4 stacked (512Mbx4) original brand DDR TSOP chips and the eight-layer PCB. NEC LCD Technologies Further Enhances "ST-NLT" Lineup NEC LCD Technologies today announced that it will begin successive shipment of three new amorphous silicon TFT LCD samples by the end of June 2006. The new products comprise of an 8.4-inch (21cm-diagonal) SVGA TFT LCD module, part number NL8060BC21-03, an 8.4-inch (21cm-diagonal) VGA TFT LCD module, part number NL6448BC26-09C and a 6.5-inch (17cm-diagonal) VGA TFT LCD module, part number NL6448BC20-20. All three new LCD modules feature NEC LCD Technologies' proprietary super-transmissive natural light TFT (ST-NLT) technology that achieves display of vivid colors in environments with high ambient light, enabled by 50% added brightness as compared with conventional models. In addition, the new LCDs boast a wide operating-temperature range of -10 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius (* NL6448BC26-09C support -20 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius). These new and enhanced features make all three new models ideal for installation in automatic vending machines, point-of-sales systems for gas stations and measuring instruments for boats and ships such as fish finders, chart plotters, radars and GPS navigators.
