Leadtek NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 officially announced

Leadtek, an exclusive partner of NVIDIA in Asia (excludiing Japan), officially announced NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000, yet another workstation graphics card that is naturally certified for CAD (computer-aided design), CAE (computer-aided engineering), DCC (digital content creation) applications.

Transcend updates MMC and registered DIMM series

With two press releases Transcend Information updated its MMC and DIMM memory solution series.

The first novelty is 1 GB Multimedia Card (MMC). As usual, the press release states that Transcend considers SLC (Single-Level-Cell) NAND flash chips the optimal variant that provides higher write performance and reduces energy consumption comparing to MLC solutions.

As for MMC card features, they are standard: 32x24x1.4 mm size, 2 g weight, 2 MB/s write speed. At the moment Transcend´s MMC series includes 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 MB and 1 GB cards (TS32MMC to TS512MMC and TS1GMMC).

The second press release is dedicated to 2 GB registered DDR333/266 SDRAM DIMM modules marked TS256MDR72V3S and TS256MDR72V6S. Modules are designed for boards on Intel E7320, E7520, E7525 and AMD 8131 chipsets. Both modules features 36 x 512 Mbit chips (128x4), 8-layer PCBs and FBGA packages.

400 GB Barracuda 7200.8 are now shipping

Seagate launched shipments of its new 400 GB 3.5" Barracuda 7200.8 hard drives. Comparing to the previous Barracuda 7200.7 series, one plate now stores 133 GB (33% more). The new series include Serial ATA models (200/250/300/400 GB) and Ultra ATA models (250/300/400 GB). The former support NCQ and are intended for gaming systems, workstations, entry-level media and SATA servers.

Judging by the series name, the new hard drives support 7200 rpm speed, 8 ms seek time and 95 MB/s throughput. The initial buffer size is 8 MB; it will be incresed up to 16 MB for 250 GB and higher-capacity models.

GeForce 6600 GT AGP 8X graphics cards are now available

NVIDIA informed on the availability of GeForce 6600 GT AGP 8X cards offered by Albatron Technology, Anextek Global, AOpen America,ASUSTek Computer International, BFG Technologies, Biostar,Chaintech, Gainward, Gigabyte Technology, InnoVISION Multimedia, Leadtek Research, MSI, PNY Technologies, etc.

The list of technologies supported includes Microsoft DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 3.0, UltraShadow II, NVIDIA PureVideo.
