Samsung offers first MMCplus and MMCmobile cards

Korean Samsung released the first cards of the new MMCplus and MMCmobile standards offered by MMCA. Both memory chips and controllers are developed by the company.

To improve data throughput Samsung based MMC controller on 32-bit ARM7 and at the same time widened data bus to 8 bits. Host interface speed was improved from 2.5 to 52 MB/s. Samsung´s memory controller supports firmware upgrades and can be modified by installing 48 KB of flash memory instead of EEPROM. Besides, the company honed caching and alternating algorithms to improve read/write performance.

Intel introduces Celeron D 340 and Intel 910GL, updates Celeron D 325, 330, 335 solutions
