TI unveils new WLAN IP phone platform
Texas Instruments unveiled the new integrated Wireless LAN (WLAN) IP phone platform, TNETV1600, based on OMAP16xx architecture widely used in cellular devices:
- 150 MHz TMS320C55x DSP
- 150 MHz ARM926 chip
- Hardware Java acceleration
- Extended graphics features
- Supports NOR flash and DDR SDRAM
- LCD controller

The complete solution includes TNETW1230 WLAN chipset with software that supports both existing and new comm standards as well as the Telogy Software for VoIP software interface for transmitting voice over WLAN.
MAC/Baseband TNETW1230:
- 802.11b/g
- QoS EDCA WME, 802.11e
- WPA 1.0, WEP
- Optional Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) Versions 1.0 and 2.0
Additionally there is a dual-channel TLV320AIC22C codec and TPS65010 power management chip. Currently the company is working on WLAN secure connectivity solutions.
According to the press release, Ascom Wireless Solutions, European vendor of mobile terminals, already agreed to use the platform in its solutions.
