ASRock combines again: K8 Combo-Z with Socket 754 and 939

ASRock continues to develop its dual-socket concepts and seems to be going to earn much in industry´s intermediate period. The novelty is K8 Combo-Z ATX board supporting AMD Sempron (Socket 754) and Athlon 64 / Athlon 64 FX (Socket 939).

The board bases on ULi(ALi) M1689 chipset, provides 1 memory channel for Sempron (two sockets available) and 2 channels for Athlon 64 (three sockets available). The board supports up to 2GB RAM and, besides standard IDE ATA133/100, supports SATA (RAID 0, 1, JBOD). According to the press release, the board has 8-channel Realtek 850 audio codec, AGP 8X/4X (1.5V), 10/100 Ethernet LAN, 3 x PCI (PCI 2.3). Hybrid Booster feature is supposed to provide safe overclocking (CPU multiplier, FSB adjust). More features include ASRock U-COP, Boot Failure Guard (B.F.G).

Albatron unveils Widio wireless audio system

Albatron unveiled its new Widio wireless audio system that is capable of transmitting audio signals from various devices, including receivers, DVD players, PCs, etc. to headphones. Structurally Albatron Widio has receiver and transceiver separated and no special headphones are required to listen to music.

According to the company, the device will arrive to USA, Europe, Australia and Japan early in September.

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ desknote processor officially announced

AMD officially announced AMD Athlon 64 3700+ processor for (DTR). According to the press release, AMD Athlon 64 3700+ will be used in HP and VoodooPC systems in the nearest future.

At the moment, AMD Athlon 64 desknote series includes 3700+, 3400+, 3200+, 3000+. The latest introduced cost $500 in over 1,000-unit quantities. Currently supporting 32-bit software, AMD Athlon 64 will be able to support 64-bit applications as well.

As they usually write in press releases, performance increases due to HyperTransport, and security gets better due to "Enhanced Virus Protection" with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
