AMD Athlon 64 3700+ desknote processor officially announced
AMD officially announced AMD Athlon 64 3700+ processor for (DTR). According to the press release, AMD Athlon 64 3700+ will be used in HP and VoodooPC systems in the nearest future.
At the moment, AMD Athlon 64 desknote series includes 3700+, 3400+, 3200+, 3000+. The latest introduced cost $500 in over 1,000-unit quantities. Currently supporting 32-bit software, AMD Athlon 64 will be able to support 64-bit applications as well.
As they usually write in press releases, performance increases due to HyperTransport, and security gets better due to "Enhanced Virus Protection" with Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
