Intel cuts processor prices yet again
Traditionally Intel updated its processor price list with some new additions: Pentium M 738 (1.40 GHz, LV; $284), Pentium M 733 (1.10 GHz, ULV; $262), Pentium M 723 (1 GHz, ULV; $241).
At the same time, Intel updated Centrino kits that, as you know, include Intel 855GM/855PM chipset and Intel Pro/Wireless 2100/2200BG WLAN components. These cost $299 to $356 in 1,000-unit quantities.
Besides, prices were cut down to $186 for 90nm 2.80 GHz Mobile Intel Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading, 1 MB L2 cache. The same price now has 130nm 2.80 GHz Mobile Intel Pentium 4 with HT and 512 KB L2.

About 1.5 year ago Philip Gerasimov, member of iXBT.com team, creator of RighrMark3D synthetic tests, joined the team working on a monumental 3D graphics book, GPU Gems, published under the aegis of NVIDIA. Today Philip, who now works at NVIDIA Russia, presented us with an author´s copy with its autograph. We thank Philip a lot and wish him lots of creative works in the future.


4th-generation iPods officially announced
Today Apple officially announced the new generation of iPod multimedia players. 20GB M9244LL/A and 40GB M9245LL/A feature 2" LCD (160x128, 0.24mm dot size) and can work for up to 12 hours without a recharge (which takes 4 hours for 100%, 2 hours for 80%).

20GB model is sized 10.4x6.0x1.44 cm, while 40GB model is sized 10.4x6.0x1.75 cm. Players weigh 158 g and 176 g respectively. As expected devices are controlled with a Click Wheel (familiar from iPod mini). Other features were left the same: FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports on cradle, remote control connector, stereo headphones output; AAC (16-320 Kbps), MP3 (32-320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible, AIFF, Apple Lossless, WAV formats. Judging by the fact that the company separated older iPods and novelties at its website, the latter should have other body colours.
