In this month LaCie is to start sales of its new external d2: 8x DVD±RW drives. Similar to all d2 products, 8x DVD±RW features both FireWire and USB2.0 interfaces.
It seems overclockers climbed another peak, according to Coolaler Zone. This time it was AMD Athlon 64 FX53 processor operating at 3007MHz (13.5x228MHz) at 1.76V. The peak was actually at 3083MHz, but the system became unstable. 3DMark03 used in tests "gave up" already at 2.89GHz. During the experiment PC3200 memory clock speed was increased to 466MHz.
This is the testbed:
Samsung released its new 1Gbit DDR2 SDRAM chip and two new unbuffered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules, 1GB (16 x 512Mbit DDR2 667 SDRAM) and 2GB registered DIMM (36 x 512Mbit).
According to the press release, the samples operate at 400, 533, 677 MHz (only 1GB modules are available for PC). Therefore now the complete Samsung´s DDR2 SDRAM series includes 1Gbit, 512Mbit, 256Mbit chips operating at 400, 533, 667 MHz as well as 19 module combinations on these chips (4 types of server RDIMM, 9 desktop DIMM (UDIMM) and 6 SO-DIMM). Still Intel´s certificate is at the moment obtained for just 12 solutions. 1Gbit DDR2 chips will be made at 300mm Fab 12 using 0.10µm process.
In March at CeBIT 2004 Samsung is to announce its two smartphones — SGH-D410 and SGH-E600.
SGH-D410 has 176x220 LCD supporting up to 260K colors, integrated VGA digital camera (640x480) and can record up to 30s movies. Weighing 116 g, it´s sized 98x49x24mm. The smartphone has 10MB of built-in memory, of which 3MB is used for video, 3MB for photos, 4MB for MMS, Java apps, etc.
Samsung E600 is close to D410, but differs by 96x64 65K-color display, 104x41x23mm size and just 79g weight. Both models should arrive to retail closer to April-May.
OCZ Technology announced the new PC-3200 Platinum Limited Edition EL DDR modules on Winbond BH-6 chips that will be shipping for both single-channel (256 and 512 MB) and dual-channel (512MB and 1GB kits) systems. Each module traditionally features copper heatsinks, requires 2.7V voltage and provides 2-2-2-7 timings (tested on Asus P4C800 Deluxe).
As the shipments are to be launched soon, the company is going to publish a list of compatible motherboards as soon as they are all tested (for both Intel and AMD processors).

Yesterday in Munich Sagem introduced its new mobile handset series for this season.
Sagem myX-1g is a mainstream b/w model featuring GPRS, WAP 1.2.1, modem, 200-note notebook, 8-tone polyphony (wav, midi), 5 screensavers, EMS, T9.
Sagem myX3-2 bases on the X3 model. It supports MMS, but doesn´t have a digital camera. It also has the 4K colors, 400KB user memory, polyphony (wav, midi, iMelody), 2 programmable buttons, up to 5 hours of operation, up to a fortnight of standby, 1500-note notebook, integrated speaker.
Sagem myC-3s and Sagem myC-3b are the two original models designed together with Chinese Bird company. Both models have 128x160x65K display and support MMS.
The "s" poftfix in the "only-for-men" Sagem myC-3s stands for the stereo polyphony — the model has two side speakers. Just opposite, the "only-for-ladies" Sagem myC-3b (below) is interesting by the biorhythm measurements feature.
These weeks we should also get to know details about company´s two other handsets. Of these Sagem myX-7 is a tri-band GSM model supporting GPRS Class 10 and featuring VGA the VGA camera (it should replace myX-6). And there´s nothing dislosed about the Sagem SHG 321i.
