Samsung releases new 1Gbit chips and 1GB, 2GB DDR2 modules
Samsung released its new 1Gbit DDR2 SDRAM chip and two new unbuffered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules, 1GB (16 x 512Mbit DDR2 667 SDRAM) and 2GB registered DIMM (36 x 512Mbit).

According to the press release, the samples operate at 400, 533, 677 MHz (only 1GB modules are available for PC). Therefore now the complete Samsung´s DDR2 SDRAM series includes 1Gbit, 512Mbit, 256Mbit chips operating at 400, 533, 667 MHz as well as 19 module combinations on these chips (4 types of server RDIMM, 9 desktop DIMM (UDIMM) and 6 SO-DIMM). Still Intel´s certificate is at the moment obtained for just 12 solutions. 1Gbit DDR2 chips will be made at 300mm Fab 12 using 0.10µm process.
