Hitachi unveils its new FLORA 220W/270W notebooks Creative NOMAD MuVo2 a 4GB model for the New Year T-Cube: an orange-sized desktop ATI plans to use high-end GPUs in desknotes Hitachi unveils its new FLORA 220W/270W notebooks Hitachi unveiled two notebook series for corporate users, FLORA 220W and FLORA 270W, scheduled for sale to January 9, 2004.
FLORA 220W includes models with 12.1" WXGA (1280x800) LCDs. The 1.5GHz Pentium M should arrive on the date mentioned, while the 2nd model on Mobile Celeron 800A with reduced energy consumption is to arrive on January 16. Other features are identical:

As for the FLORA 270W series, it now includes a slim model with 15" XGA (1024x768) LCD that features i855GM chipset, 1.4GHz Pentium M, 256MB PC2100 (up to 1GB). Similar to the models above, FLORA 270W slim will have 30GB HDD and 24x CD-ROM. Model interfaces include 2 x PC Card Type II, Ethernet, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x 4-pin IEEE1394, 15-pin D-Sub, LPT, COM, etc. The Li-Ion battery provides about 2 hours of uptime. Creative NOMAD MuVo2 a 4GB model for the New Year Creative Technology decided to make such a present for the New Year and introduced a new MP3 player, NOMAD MuVo2, with 4GB memory capacity with the MSRP of $300. As the 4GB model announcement is linked to the older model specs at Creative´s NOMADWorld, we suppose the novelty differs only by the increased capacity and also the weight (the 1.5GB model weighed about 90g with its battery).
T-Cube: an orange-sized desktop At TRON 2004 that took place in Japan these days Japanese Personal Media showcased its T-Cube PC operating under the T-Engine OS. T-Engine is a project focused on the development of a standard OS for networked PCs that was launched in Japan in 2002. The OS resembles Windows (or the X Window interface). The T-Cube bases on the NEC VR5701 CPU. Intended for the Chinese market (supporting Multi- and Super-Chinese characters), the novelty should arrive for sale in Q1 2004.
ATI plans to use high-end GPUs in desknotes As stated in the header, ATI is going to use its high-end GPUs with up to 15W heat power in desknotes. In 2004 ATI´s mobile GPUs will support PCI Express and DirectX9. Besides, it plans to start producing using the low-k technology to reduce the energy consumption at the same clock speeds.
