Intel curtails shipments of 733MHz LV and 800MHz ULV Mobile Celeron processors

Another notification from Intel: the company started curtailing shipments of 733MHz LV Mobile Celeron and 800MHz ULV Mobile Celeron processors. The reason is usual – transition to the newer ahd higher-performance chips.

The last orders date is April 16, 2004. The last shipments date is October 15, 2004.

If you remember, 733MHz LV Mobile Celeron (100MHz FSB) and 800MHz ULV Mobile Celeron (133MHz FSB) processors were made in OEM variants only. Still despite the shipments are to end, these chips will be still supported by Intel Communications Group for Embedded Applications.

We are currently testing Konica Minolta DIMAGE Z1 digital camera with ZCW-100 x 0.75 wide-angle converter.

The new 3Mp model features 10x optical lens (38-380mm in 35mm equiv.) The converter allows angles equivalent to the 28mm lens.

The first thing that catches the eye is the possibility to view the LCD display directly on the camera back or through the viewfinder. This is selected mechanically by curtaining and turning the LCD. Other cameras of this price range feature two LCDs: one large on the back panel, another – EVF. Today, when electronics gets cheaper and cheaper and mechanics is vice versa, I wonder how much the company saved on this unusual solution.

NVIDIA unveils Quadro FX 1100 GPU for mid-range workstations

NVIDIA extended its professional GPU list with the new Quadro FX 1100. As the new mid-range GPU Quadro FX 1100 is made using 0.13µm process at IBM fab in East Fishkill, NY. It´s clear that behind this not very usual Quadro FX classification is the familiar NV36 known as GeForce FX 5700 in the desktop market.

This implies the following features:

  • 128-bit FP precision graphics
  • 12-bit subpixel precision
  • 128MB RAM
  • 16X FSAA
  • and other GeForce FX 5700 features

In NVIDIA´s hierarchy Quadro FX 1100 is positioned between Quadro FX 2000 and Quadro FX 1000. Information about the entire Quadro FX family is provided at company´s website alongside with Quadro FX 1100 SPECviewperf 7.1.1 test results.

I´ll just add that cards on Quadro FX 1100 will be produced and distributed by PNY (in USA and Europe), Leadtek (Asian-Pacific) and Elsa (in Japan). The new graphics cards will be available early next year in Hewlett-Packard´s Workstation xw4100, Workstation xw6000 and Workstation xw8000 and IBM IntelliStation MPro and ZPro.

OCZ Technology introduces new Unbuffered PC-3700 Gold Revision 2 DDR modules

OCZ Technology introduced another overclocker memory module series — Unbuffered PC-3700 Gold Revision 2 DDR. Similar to the previous solutions, the new modules will be offered in 256MB, 512MB capacities as well as in 512MB and 1GB kits.

OCZ PC-3700 Gold Revision 2 DDR are coupled with gilded heatsinks, based on 466MHz chips, and require 2.7V voltage. However, unlike PC-3700 Gold Revision DDR series, new modules have CL2.5-3-3-7 timings instead of CL2-3-3-7. The new modules naturally support EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) that allows "burnproof" over-voltage to 2.9V.

OCZ PC-3700 Gold Revision 2 DDR are already shipping.
