Connect3D: new cards, new boxes

Connect3D, the European ATI graphics cards partner, introduced new box design for its "ATI Powered" solutions. Such new products will arrive to retail in mid-October.

I can say that Connect3D did this to "celebrate" the release of new graphics cards on ATI´s new Radeon 9800XT, 9600XT, 9600SE, 9200SE GPUs as well as the release of company´s top-end Radeon 9800 AIW model.






Seagate´s external hard drives are available in USA retail

In USA Seagate launched retail shipments of its new Seagate External Hard Drives first introduced last month.


According to the company, Seagate External Hard Drive key features include:

  • Push-button backup — Award-winning BounceBack Express(tm) software from CMS.
  • On/off switch — No more concerns that your hard drive hasn´t been shut down safely. Better data security, for always-on internet connections.
  • Looks cool, stays cool — Designed to dissipate heat from your hard drive. Runs much cooler than other external hard drives.
  • Hot-swappable — Connect and disconnect without turning off your computer.
  • Stackable — Unique interlocking design lets you expand your Seagate storage securely.
  • Position vertically or horizontally, with upright stand and non-slip rubber feet.
  • World´s quietest 7,200-RPM hard drive with a state-of-the-art, ultraquiet SoftSonic motor.
  • USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces, for PC and Macintosh
  • 8-Mbyte cache
  • 160-Gbytes now, 200-Gbytes later this year
  • Estimated street price: $269 for a 160Gb model and $299 for a 200Gb model

Shipments to other regions Seagate External Hard Drive are scheduled for the next year.

Sierra Wireless unveils Voq – a GSM/GPRS smartphone with original QWERTY keyboard

Canadian Sierra Wireless introduced a new business GSM/GPRS smartphone — Voq – controlled by Microsoft Windows Mobile for Smartphones and featuring an original QWERTY keyboard.


Voq is a brand of Sierra Wireless that launched a special Voq website for promotion purposes. The phone body can be either black, or silvery. The model bases on 200MHz Intel PXA262 processor; supports Windows Mobile apps like Windows Media Player and email clients, supports Microsoft Exchange/Lotus Notes/Novell Groupwise synchronization, etc.

The novelty is expected in Europe and Northern America in H1 2004. The pricing hasn´t been disclosed yet.



Intel to announce 2.8GHz Celeron on November 5?

The Inquirer posted another leak stating that 2.8GHz desktop Intel Celeron is to be announced on November 5.

Well, at least before this date, in particular on October 26, the company plans another price cut for 2.5/2.4/2.3GHz Celerons down to $79, $69, and $69, respectively.

NEC videophones coming to Europe

Japanese NEC shared its plans to promote the proprietary Video Communication Solutions to the European market. At ITU Telecom World 2003 starting on October 12 in Geneva the company is expected to introduce some 2.5G anf 3G solutions supporting GPRS and EDGE besides everything else.





In particular, NEC will announce å616, e606, e808, e808Y WCDMA solutions.
