Today we have to offer you some details as well as the photos.
The reference card (RV350?) supporting PCI Express X16 is designed for Intel Grantsdale motherboard to arrive in Q2 2004. They will be the first offering PCI Express X16 that is called to replace AGP 8x with doubled bandwidth. Of course, the demonstrated card doesn´t correspond to models that will be in volume manufacture. The commercial naming is also unknown. Besides, Intel showcased a workstation prototype on the Tumwater chipset (called to replace Intel E7505) that supports PCI Express X16 as well. In H2 2004 the company is to announce the new Sonoma mobile platform on Intel Centrino. It will feature the future Pentium M model, 802.11a/b/g wireless solution and the new chipset codenamed Alviso. The former will have a new integrated graphics; support PCI Express, NEWCARD, next-generation DDR2, Serial ATA and Intel Azalia audio codec.
Samsung and Roxio work over Napster Players Samsung Electronics is working with Roxio to develop a line of portable audio players that will carry the brand names of both Samsung and Roxio´s Napster service. The showcased Samsung Napster YP-910 Player includes a 20GB hard disk drive, according to the user manual published by the FCC. The capacity is enough space to store around 5,000 average-length MP3 files. It measures 108 millimeters by 70 millimeters by 20 millimeters, that is near to competing players´ data, but it weighs 60 grams only. Other features that worth mentioning are support for not MP3 only, but Windows Media Audio files as well, a USB port, and an FM radio and an FM transmitter, which means you can listen to songs wirelessly through an FM radio. It also includes a rechargable battery that provides enough power for up to 10 hours of use, and a recording function that can be used to record from the built-in FM radio or an external device, such as a CD player, to an MP3 file, according to the manual.
CrossFire new series of external USB/FireWire drives from SmartDisk SmartDisk Corp. introduced CrossFire, a new line of hard drives with both USB 2.0 and FireWire connectivity. Due to ship Oct. 6, the drives sport 3.5-inch, 7200-RPM mechanisms and capacities up to 250GB.
MCC from Antelope — PDA-sized PC with Windows XP Pro At the DEMOmobile exhibition Antelope Technologies unveiled its MCC (Modular Computing Core)-solution, portable PC, equipped with 1 GHz Crusoe TM5800, 256 MB RAM, 10/15 GB HDD; it has 2D/3D graphic core Silicon Motion 722 supporting analog and LVDS displays (8 MB). The model has 6.3" LCD (supported resolution — 1024 x 768), Sound Blaster-compatible audio supporting mic in, stereo out, line in. The dimensions of the MCC are 75 x 125 x 20 mm, the weight is 258 grams. Well, the OS installed is Windows XP Professional. The device will go on sale on November, 7. The idea is that the MCC contains processor, internal battery, memory and software applications. The power supply, display, communications and I/O devices are detached and transformed into modular accessories that a user chooses according to his individual preferences and work environment. Nowadays the company offers keyboard, portable printer, barcode scanner, mouse and display as the accessories for the MCC. Matrox unveils new solution, Parhelia HR256 Matrox Graphics announced its new professional solution, Parhelia HR256 that has 256 MB DDR (256 bit memory bus) and based on 512 bit GPU. As for the interface, it is not AGP, but 33/66 MHz PCI.
