IDF Fall 2003: The photo of ATI PCI Express X16 graphics card; Intel Tumwater server chipset
Yesterday we got to know that ATI released the first GPU supporting PCI Express X16. Today we have to offer you some details as well as the photos.
The reference card (RV350?) supporting PCI Express X16 is designed for Intel Grantsdale motherboard to arrive in Q2 2004. They will be the first offering PCI Express X16 that is called to replace AGP 8x with doubled bandwidth.
Of course, the demonstrated card doesn´t correspond to models that will be in volume manufacture. The commercial naming is also unknown.
Besides, Intel showcased a workstation prototype on the Tumwater chipset (called to replace Intel E7505) that supports PCI Express X16 as well.
Below you can see a demo system on ATI´s PCI Express X16 and Tumwater; and below that – Tumwater Southbridge.
