Lexar Media launched shipments of new 40x 4Gb CompactFlash Type II cards claimed to provide place for up to 600 RAW images from 6Mp pro cameras.
The product usually supports Write Acceleration (WA) technology providing speeds up to 6Mb/s. Considering the capacity, the card is best suited for FAT32 cams like:
- Canon Powershot G3, Powershot G5, Powershot S45, Powershot S50, EOS 10D, EOS-1Ds
- Kodak DCS 720X (via adapter), 760 (via adapter), DCS Pro Back (all models), DCS Pro 14n
- Olympus E-1
The MSRP of new cards is about $1500.
Zalman introduces TNN500A ATX case for noiseless PC designs
Zalman introduced its own model of PC case, TNN500A, enabling to design "almost noiseless" systems being completely fanless. Shipments are scheduled to mid-September. The price is still open, but might make $1180.
The case features proprietary 300W fanless power supply. All hot components, including CPU, GPU, HDD, etc. are connected by a single heat dissipating main. Sized 400x286x607mm, TNN500A serving the role of heatsink itself weighs 21kg. The case is made of 99% aluminium and provides 3 x 5.25" bays and 4 x 3.5" bays.
According to makers, The performance of CPU cooling block is 150W/s that is enough for 3.06GHz Pentium 4; 50W/s of graphics card cooler meets GeForce FX requirements. By the way TNN stands for ´Totally No Noise´.)

I-O Data unveils own xD Picture Card adapter
I-O Data decided to catch up with the brands and released own xD Picture Card adapter, US2-xDRW, to arrive for sale late in August (I wonder if this Japanese company is able to skim the cream off sales of such devices?) And the MSRP of $22 is a clear challenge to FujiFilm and Olympus.
The device works under Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, and Mac OS 9.0 — 9.2.2/Mac OS X 10.1 — 10.2.6. Sized 56x66.5x15.5mm, it weighs about $26. The package includes 80cm USB cable.
Olympus MAUSB-100: new xD-Picture card USB adapter
Olympus, following the announcement of xD-Picture Card USB adapter by Fujifilm, announced its own device — MAUSB-100 – to arrive for sale late in September with MSRP of $26.
The USB2.0 adapter supports Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Mac OS 9.0 — 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.1.2+ and 16-512Mb xD-Picture Cards. Sized 28.3x67.2x13.8mm, it weighs about 13g. The package includes 1.2m USB cable.

Hercules is to launch 3D Prophet 9600 with 256Mb DDR
According to provisional information, Hercules is to launch shipments of new 3D Prophet 9600 graphics card with 256Mb DDR on ATI Radeon 9600 GPU. Whether it is successful or not, only the time will tell. The street price of Hercules 3D Prophet 9600 256Mb should be about 200 euros.
