Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS) unveiled its new SiSM661FX notebook chipset supporting 800MHz FSB, DDR400 and Ultra-AGPII.

The memory controller supports up to 2 unbuffered DIMM DDR400 or 3 unbuffered DIMM DDR400/DDR333/DDR266.

Sony publishes specs of new PSP pocket gaming console

At PlayStation Meeting that took place yesterday in Tokyo Sony introduced specs of PSP, a new pocket gaming console soon to be released. Aside from video and audio playback features, known since E3, all specs were demonstrated for the first time.

Sony PSP specs:

  • Media: UMD (Universal Media Disc) 60mm diameter, 660nm laser wavelength, 1.8Gb dual-sided capacity, 11 Mbps throughput, ROM (AES) protection, unique Disc ID.
  • PSP CPU: 32-bit MIPS R4000 core, 128-bit bus, 1-333MHz clock speed at 1.2V, 8Mb eDRAM, I-Cache / D-Cache, FPU, 2.6GFlops VFPU (Vector Unit), extended 3D-CG instruction set
  • PSP Media Engine: 32-bit MIPS R4000 core, 128-bit bus, 1-333MHz clock speed at 1.2V, 2Mb eDRAM, I-Cache / D-Cache, 90nm process, CMOS
  • PSP Graphics Core: 3D Curved Surface + 3D Polygon, compressed textures, hardware clipping, morphing, hardware tesselation, Bezier, B-Spline (NURBS); 44 / 1616 / 6464; Rendering Engine + Surface Engine, 256-bit bus, 1-166MHz at 1.2V, 2Mb VRAM (eDRAM), 5.3Gb/s, 664Mpixel/s, up to 33 million polygon/s; 24-bit Full Color RGBA

The final console design hasn´t been published yet, but in general controls will resemble PlayStation 2. PSP will debut about Q4 2004. It´s still early for pricing, but they say it would be about $160-250. For the first time PSP is expected at the next E3.

OCZ announces copper mini-heatsinks

OCZ Technology Inc announced OCZ Flower mini-sinks for MOSFETs, graphics cards SDRAM, etc. Novelties are sized 27x9x27mm.

TEAC releases 4X DVDRW — DV-W50D

TEAC released its new universal DV-W50D recorder supporting DVD+RW and DVD-RW.

Dell Latitude X300 and Inspiron 300m: new subnotebooks on 1.2GHz LV Pentium M

Dell introduced two new subnotebooks: Latitude X300 and Inspiron 300m. Both are based on Intel Centrino with optional MediaBase station and D-Family module for devices like DVD+RW drives or the hard drives as well as external D/Bay providing USB2.0 connectivity for external devices.

Latitude X300 (<$1599) bases on 1.2GHz LV Pentium M, Intel 855GM chipset; features 12.1" XGA (1024x768) LCD display, PRO/Wireless 2100 (802.11b) interface, 20Gb (up to 60Gb) HDD, 128Mb (up to 1152Mb) DDR SDRAM PC2100, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD/CD-RW drive, IEEE1394 port, 2 x USBx2.0 ports, Type I/II slot, 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN, 56K2 v.92 modem, built-in stereo speakers (with an external suybwoofer jack), Windows XP Pro SP1 / XP Home SP1 / 2000 SP3. Sized 274.3x233.7x20.3mm, it weighs about 1kg.

Inspiron 300m ($1599) bases on 1.2GHz LV Pentium M (Intel 855GM), 12.1" XGA (1024x768) LCD, PRO/Wireless 2100 (802.11b), 30Gb HDD, 256Mb DDR PC2100, DVD/CD-RW drive, a number of interfaces and ports, Windows XP Home SP1.
