Matsushita unleashes two 3õ DVD-RAM recorders

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. unleashed two DVD-RAM drives to arrive for retail on August 23. The first, LF-M621JD, is an external model to cost about $250. The second drive, LF-M660JD, is an external USB2.0 device to arrive to retail on September 13 for about $290.

New drives support higher 3õ DVD-RAM read/write speeds. Corresponding media will arrive for sale on August 9.


LF-M660JD

Other features include 4õ DVD-R recording, 12õ CD-R recording, 8õ CD-RW recording. The bundle includes MyDVD 4.0, DVD-MovieAlbumSE 3, B´s CLiP5, WinDVD 4, etc.


LF-M660JD is sized 176x53.5x249mm, weighs about 1.7 kg; LF-M621JD is sized 146x196x41.3mm and weighs about 1.1 kg.

SUMA releases 5.1-channel Sound Charisma external USB soundcard

Korean SUMA released new external 5.1-channel USB soundcard, Sound Charisma USB.


The card bases on CS4228-KS codec, features 24-bit ADC supporting resolutions up to 24bit/96kHz at 90dB SNR and 102dB dynamic range, 6 x 24-bit DACs (103dB SNR and 103dB dynamic range); supports AC3.

The card has analog input/outputs and optical and coaxial SPDIF. TPA122-based output provides 150mW output power.

Nikon D2H officially announced

Nikon officially announced its rumoured camera, D2H ($4136). This digital SLR model features new 4.1Mp matrix, LBCAST (Lateral Buried Charge Accumulator and Sensing Transistor Array) on JFET transistors, which considerably reduces noise and provides higher color precision. Maximum sensor resolution is 2484x1636 (3:2 side ratio).


Matrix has 4.26 million pixels total. Image resolutions are 2464x1632 (L), 1840x1224 (M). The camera supports up to 40 JPEG frames burst at (or up to 25 RAW) at 8fps. In general, the camera supports TIFF (RGB), NEF + JPEG, NEF (12-bit RAW), JPEG (EXIF 2.2) formats.


Other features: 11-point AF, TTL; ISO 200-1600; 30-1/8000s exposures, 37ms shutter lag. The camera has a 2.5" display with 211,000 pixels. Supported interfaces include USB2.0, video-out and 802.11b.


Supported media: Compact Flash Type I/II, Microdrive. Bundle includes EN-EL4 Li-Ion battery, MH-21 charger.


Weighing 1.07kg, the camera is sized 158x150x86mm. Shipments are scheduled to Q4 2003.

Along with the camara the company introduced three new lens: two DX-Nikkor (AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED and AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED), and one 200-400mm F4.0G with vibration reduction system.

Samsung announces 21.3" SyncMaster 213T LCD monitor

Samsung Electronics announced new 21.3" SyncMaster 213T LCD monitor for about $2100. It supports resolutions up to 1600x1200 (UXGA); the Pivot technology enables 90° rotation, height is adjustable up to 60mm, tilt is 0-30°, swing – up to 45°.


The monitor is 58.8mm thick, being the thinnest of all, and weighs 8.5kg. Brightness – 250cd/m², contrast – 500:1, vertical and horizontal viewing angles — 170°.


The model has D-Sub and DVI-D connectors.


Close to the year-end the company plans to release 24" monitors to strengthen its positions in this market segment even more.

Tyan posted the specs of its new Thunder K8S (S2880) server mobo on AMD8000 chipset for up to two AMD Opteron processors.

ABIT MAX3 to be announced on July 25

ABIT informed us that the new MAX3 motherboard, continuing MAX I and MAX II series is to be announced on July 25.
