New WD Raptors feature large MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of about 1.2 million hours, 5.2ms average read seek, up to 150Mb/s buffer to host transfer rate and the 5-year warranty. There will be two versions available: a standard 845GVM and 845GVM-L with 10/100 LAN interface.![]() The novelty features ATX design, supports Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4/Celeron (1.4GHz to 3.06GHz; 400/533MHz to 100/133MHz FSB), has 2 DIMM sockets (up to 2Gb PC2100; w/o ECC), 3 PCI slots, CNR slot, integrated AC97 2.2 codec (Realtek ALC650), 6 USB 2.0/1.1 ports. The detailed processor review is being prepared now. The MSRP of Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton) in over 1,000-unit quantities is $588. NEC-CI has already announced systems on the new AMD Athlon XP 3000+ for the European market, and similar releases are expected to arrive from a number of companies as well. Besides, today we expected another Barton-based CPU Athlon XP 2800+ to be released with the wholesale price of $375 (according to provisional information). However, it’s not mentioned in the official press release as well as on the company website. Future Athlon XP 3200+ is expected closer to mid-year.
