In fact, it’s a merge of two companies, well-known in the multimedia market.As you know, Steinberg specializes in developing digital audio processing software for the consumer and professional markets. The deal will be finally settled early in January 2003. The sum will make $24 million, of which $8.2 million will be paid in cash, $15.8 million – in Pinnacle Systems stocks. As the result, Pinnacle Systems will own all assets of Steinberg Media, including the intellectual product rights.
EliteGroup releases Camelot Xabre 600 Today Elitegroup (ECS) officially released its new Camelot Xabre 600 (AG600), based on SiS Xabre 600.Camelot Xabre 600 supports AGP 8õ, has 64Mb DDR, features analog, digital and TV sockets. The GPU/memory clock make 300/300MHz. Overclockers can use the additional board controls Smart Overclocking Utility (SOU), providing four control indicators: Warning Color Indicator, Reconfirmation Control, Memory Test Verification Panel and Auto Restore. The bundle includes the Elite Castle 3D desktop utility and WinDVD Creator.

ATI announces fiscal quarter results ATI Technologies announced the report for Q1 of its 2003 fiscal year, ended November 30, 2002. According to the report, the last quarter revenue made $322 million, being 34.5% higher than in the previous quarter year and 28.8% higher than last year.The gross profit made 27.3% against 30.1% in the previous quarter, transaction costs, including amortization and fictitious assets, grew from $70.1 million in the previous quarter to $79.6 million. At that the net profit made $5.0 million or $0.02/stock against the net loss of $32.2 million or $0.14/stock in the previous quarter and the $10.3 million net loss or $0.04/stock a year ago. According to ATI, the main revenue source were the Radeon 9700 and 9000 GPU sales as well as the sales of integrated graphics solutions. As the past quarter signifies the sales season peak, ATI believes that revenues are to reduce by about 10% next quarter, however, the net profit should remain at the same level. Despite the positive fiscal results and small profit, the values of the ended fiscal quarter turned out to be lower than expected. This along with the low forecast for the next quarter and the began investigation of Ontario Securities Commission in relation to the previous ATI activity in the offshore equity market resulted in the reduction of the stock level by 24% to $4.87.
DRAMeXchange analysts report that DDR333 price growth is related to the slow market stocking. Several DRAM makers at once finished the chip verification with OEM PC builders, so the DDR333 mainstream was directed to OEM channels bypassing the spot market. AMD partners for AMD Opteron serverboard production British The Inquirer, known by startling ability to get rumours, posted a number of revelation about the closest AMD plans.According to provisional data (i.e. rumours) to produce AMD Opteron (SledgeHammer) serverboards AMD will partner with FIC, Gigabyte, Arima, Tyan, and MSI. Initially Opteron boards (also featuring all workstation capabilities) will be based on multiple-CPU chipsets codenamed "Rhapsody". In such systems processors will be interconnected by HT (HyperTransport). These will be the chipset series for various processors:
FIC´s Adonis board will be designed for 2U modules and support up to 12Gb ECC registered PC2100, PC2700, have three 64-bit/100MHz PCI slots, integrated SCSI Ultra 320, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, integrated video, and also support IPMI 1.5. Gigabyte K8DPDW board for 2U racks will support AGP 8X, feature two 64-bit/100MHz PCI slots, one 64-bit/66MHz PCI slot, one 32-bit/33MHz PCI slot, integrated IDE and Serial ATA. Arima HDAMA, similar to FIC Adonis, will also be designed for pedestals, additionally supporting Serial ATA. MSI MS-9131, similar to Arima HDAMA, will additionally feature Ultra 320 and IDE and won’t feature Serial ATA. Tyan will release the dual-processor Thunder K8 (S2880) with IDE and Dual Ultra 320 SCSI, supporting up to 12Gb ECC registered PC2100, PC2700, etc. All of the above will have the Extended ATX design. Perhaps, IWILL with its DAK8 ATX board will become the 6th partner.
