Miniature and light (410 g), PlexWriter S2410TU is called to replace popular PlexWriter S88TU. It’s main specifications are:
PlexWriter S2410TU is expected for sale in January 2003. The retail version will include PlexWriter S2410TU, 1 CD-R and 1 CD-RW blank, USB cable, power supply, PlexTools, Nero + InCD software, user’s guide. The approximate price will make 209 euro (w/o taxes).
Comdex Fall 2002: SiS announces new chipsets and GPUs Today SiS announced new SiS655 and SiS755 chipsets for Intel Pentium 4 and AMD Hammer, respectively, along with new Xabre600 AGP 8õ GPU. Xabre600, which volume shipments are scheduled to the end of November, is based on SiS Hardware Optimized Vertexlizer Engine, supports AGP 8õ, DirectX 8.1, SiS Xmart. Other features are not stated in the press release, though, according to provisional data, the processor will be made using 0.13-micron process and work at 300MHz.
 New SiS655 P4 chipset continues the line of SiSR658 and SiS648. SiS655 supports both 128-bit, and 64x2-bit memory interface, dual-channel DDR333, Hyper Threading, IEEE1394, USB 2.0. MuTIOL 1G is used for connection to SiS963 Southbridge.
 SiS755, designed for AMD Hammer, also features SiS963 Southbridge and supports MuTIOL 1G, HyperTransport, 5.1-channel AC´97 2.2, 10/100Mb Ethernet, Home PNA2.0 and Dual ATA133/100/66 IDE, up to 6 PCI slots and 6 USB 2.0/1.1 ports.
Iomega announces new 720GB NAS Ð415 Iomega Corporation announced shipments of new 720GB Iomega NAS Ð415, supporting Microsoft and UNIX, for small and medium businesses, and large enterprises.
Iomega NAS Ð415 feature dual 10/100 Ethernet, 1GHz Intel Pentium III, 180GB "hot swap" hard disks, and RAID 0, 1, 5. NAS Ð415 also feature SCSI and Gigabit Ethernet. Working under Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, new NAS supports distributed file system for plugging in more Iomega NAS, Active Directory Services, and File Replication Service along with Persistent Storage Manager. Iomega NAS P415 will be shipped with Iomega Automatic Backup software for automated backup.

Comdex Fall 2002: AMD to announce Opteron systems under 64-bit Microsoft Windows AMD announced that at Comdex Fall 2002 Newisys is going to present systems on Opteron processors under prototypes of 64-bit Microsoft Windows along with 64-bit Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS), 64-bit Terminal Services, and 64-bit Microsoft Internet Explorer. Besides, AMD will also demonstrate 32-bit Microsoft Office XP under 64-bit Microsoft Windows as the capability of shared data access of 32- and 64-bit apps. P.S. By the way AMD already posted materials about AMD Opteron, presented in October at AMD Developer Symposium and describing the porting of 64-bit IBM DB2 database to AMD Opteron systems, optimizations AMD Opteron systems for SSE, SSE2, PowerNow support, etc. All the materials are here.
Comdex Fall 2002: Pretec announces 1.5GB, 2GB and 3GB CompactFlash 
Pretec Electronics announced new 1.5, 2, and 3 GB CompactFlash cards. It’s currently the largest capacity on the market. New products will be exclusively showed off at the Comdex Fall 2002, opening today in Las Vegas. Besides, the company have also started to sample shipments of 1.5 and 2 GB cards. 3 GB CF will be shipped closer to the year-end for $2499. The cards feature metallic protective case and are designed for wide temperature range (from —40°C to +125°C). The company intends its new products for military aviation, medicine, car industry, measuring and test tools.
