IC Insights: bright semiconductor industry forecasts for 2003 grow dim Analysing semiconductor market, IC Insights Inc. Decreased values of semiconductor industry forecast for 2002 from 4% to 1% growth; at the same time, pre-forecasted growth for 2003 was reduced from 24% to 15%.According to IC Insights´ data, chip market(except for discrete) will make $119.8 billion in 2002, that´s not much higher than $118.5 billion of 2001. Analysts believe the main reason of industry growth forecast reduction to be international gross revenues forecast decrease. IC Insights thinks that in 2002 electronic sales volumes will grow just 6% over 2001 volumes; 2003 growth will make just 5%. Regional market activity is interesting as well. In 2002 American, European and Japanese semiconductor markets will decrease by 12%, 10%, 8%, respectively. Remaining markets will grow by 29%. Source: Silicon Strategies
