AMD: Hammer and Barton delayed again Early today numerous Web editions, including Reuters, DowJones, Wall Street Journal, reported that AMD has again decided to move desktop Hammer release dates and delay Barton-based Athlon processors. So, volume production of desktop Hammer CPUs is moved to late Q1 2003. These chips and systems will appear for sale late in Q1 / early Q2 2003. As you know, AMD has planned to announce them late in Q4 2002. Server Opteron shipments are still scheduled for H1 2003. The release of new Barton-based Athlon processor with 512KB L2 cache is delayed as well. The announcement is moved from H2 2002 to Q1 2003.
