SILURO GF4 Ti 4200 OTES from ABIT

Before the official announcement in Japanese retail were noticed SILURO GF4 Ti 4200 OTES graphics cards from ABIT featuring a unique cooling system, to be sold from September 18.

Cards base on NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4200, have 64MB 3.6ns DDR from Hynix, and feature 275 MHz core/memory clock rates (or 550 MHz DDR for memory).

The most interesting thing is the card´s cooling system — OTES (Outside Thermal Exhaust System). The idea is clearly seen on these photos:

Actually, the card has an original exhaust pipe for warm airflow.

There will be two ABIT OTES products in the market:

  • Siluro GF4 Ti4200 OTES (3.6ns DDR 128MB)
  • Siluro GF4 Ti4200 OTES (3.6ns DDR 64MB)

Of course, we´ll be describing the samples as they appear. And now I can say that in Japan SILURO GF4 Ti 4200 OTES will cost about 21800 yens (about $180).

Motorola T720 for sale in September

North American Motorola posted information about the new T720 sales.

New GPRS-enabled Motorola T720 is designed for GSM 900/1800 and GSM 850/1900, provided with a large 4096-color display, supporting zoom for 7-9 strings, external 2-string display, voice dialling and a WAP browser.

Besides usual personalization features, including fonts, animations, the phone enables to select one of 6 color palettes, to set up special ring tones for each event (incoming calls, messages, faxes, calendar items), to download screensavers, ring tones, graphics and games.

Motorola T720 sales will begin in September.

Sony prepares sales of PUD-J5A head-mounted display

From September 26 Sony starts to ship PUD-J5A head-mounted displays for PlayStation 2. The devices also feature Head-action Tracker technology (HT) for tracking horizontal and vertical head movement to correct the displayed image.

First, PUD-J5A will be shipped exclusively from the company website, dedicated to PlayStation 2 for 59800 yens (about $500).

PUD-J5A has two 0.44-inch LCD panels, providing image equivalent to a 42-inch screen at several meters distance. It features USB, S-video and voice terminal. Head-mounted module weighs 340 g, has 200x100x250 mm dimensions and combines display and headphones. Interface module weighs 80 g, has 70x20x110 mm dimensions. Pity, but panel resolution is not provided, but $500 is not much for such a device (remeber older VR helms, costing $1000 for the moment of appearance). And it would be interesting to try something similar with a usual PC.

2.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4-M on Monday

According to provisional data, Intel plans to announce 2.2 GHz Pentium 4-M on Monday.

Comparing to the previous most powerful Pentium 4-M, the clock rate is 200 MHz higher. New notebooks from several brands are expected to be announced along with the processor.

Next Intel Pentium 4-M with 2.4 GHz clock rate is expected in Q4.
