Radeon HD 4870 X2 Naked
Thanks to Chiphell, we can take a look at AMD's dual-GPU solution based on the RV770.
Well, according to these images, the most noticeable difference is black PCB instead of red. :) Between two 55nm GPUs there is still a PCI Express 2.0 bridge. The card utilizes 16 GDDR5 memory chips produced by Qimonda with total capacity of 1GB.
The final clock rates of Radeon HD 4870 X2 haven't been disclosed yet. At the moment, they might be not set at all. We should wait until August, when drivers are "honed and polished", the yield is clear, and GDDR5 volume shipments are established (or not). Besides, by that time, NVIDIA might cut prices for its GeForce GTX 280. Then AMD will decide on clock rates. Anyway, so far the prospects of Radeon HD 4870 X2 are quite all right.
