MSI Announces 975X Platinum Motherboard And Server Solutions

Micro-Star International introduced new 1U entry-level server solutions distinctively catered to enterprise customers. P1-104A2M rack mount server integrates DDR2-533 memory, PCI Express technology, and dual Gigabit LAN. It supports Intel Pentium M mobile processor, has 2 x DIMM slots (up to 2GB), 2 x GbE and 1 x 10/100 LAN ports, 2 x PCI Express x8 slots. P1-104A2M is equipped with 2 external hotswap Serial ATA hard disk drives.

MSI also offer 915GM Master-A4R server board with extra IDE and SATA storage interfaces and more PCI-E slots to meet different requirements and applications.

The list of new servers is further expanded by the K2-102S2M (SCSI Ultra 320) and K2-102A2M (SATA). These support 2 x AMD Opteron dual-core processors, feature 8 x DIMM slots (up to 16GB of Reg. ECC DDR400 memory), 2 x PCI Express x8 slots, and dual Gigabit LAN ports.

Finally, MSI released its 975X Platinum motherboard based on Intel 975X Express Chipset. All the components of 975X Platinum are RoHS-certified, including the production process. The novelty supports CrossFire technology, has 2 x PCI Express x16 slots. Together with the Intel Pentium Processor Extreme Edition, the 975X Platinum also supports the Pentium D series processors and the latest 65nm Intel processors (codenamed "Cedar Mill" and "Presler") which will be launched in 2006.

More features include the 7.1 channel HD Audio codec and the digital output through optical fiber and coaxial cables. The ICH7R Southbridge integrates the RAID controller with Intel Matrix Storage Technology (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, etc.). MSI's CoreCell technology that implements D.O.T. feature monitors the whole system to fine-tune the voltage and fan speed, and at the same time automatically downloads the latest BIOS and drivers through Live Update 3.
