Lenovo Introduces Newest ThinkPads
Lenovo introduced two new ThinkPad models that are claimed to extend the battery life to up to 11 hours with an extended battery.
The ThinkPad X60 Series and ThinkPad T60 Series feature wireless wide area network (WWAN) technology as well as integrated high-speed wireless support for Verizon Wireless in the U.S. (selected models). All models feature a hardware switch to manually disable the system's wireless antenna. Notebooks supporting the Verizon Wireless Broadband Access network are planned to be available in the first half of this year.
Based on Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology, notebooks feature Intel Core Duo processors and Intel Mobile 945 Express Chipsets, 667 MHz FSB and 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
The ThinkPad T60 measures an inch thin with a travel weight of 4.8 lbs and includes a more durable system design, coupling the ThinkPad Roll Cage – an inner armor chassis – with its airbag-like Active Protection System and ThinkPad shock-mounted hard drive.
Also, some models will feature integrated fingerprint readers as well as Client Security Solution 6.0 software and an embedded security chip.
The ThinkPad T60 Series and X60 Series can already be purchased, with availability beginning in February. Prices for the ThinkPad T60 Series start at $2049. Prices for the ThinkPad X60 Series start at $1899.
