Hewlett-Packard Prepares New iPaq Communicators
The Web brought rumours about new devices from Hewlett-Packard, hw6700 series: hw6710 and hw6715, which will be equipped with 1.3-megapixel cameras and similar to hw6500 series in other features.
But unlike hw6500, novelties will support miniSD instead of SD cards. This transition is already well seen in the cell phone industry. HP might have decided to follow the same way with its communicators.
By the way, these iPaqs might become the first devices from HP operating under Microsoft Windows Mobile 2005 Phone Edition.
Sized 71x20x54mm, PDAs will weigh about 160g each. Intel PXA 270 processor will operate at 312MHz. 192MB of memory will be shared between 128MB ROM and 64MB SDRAM. Wireless connectivity features will include GPRS, GSM, EDGE with 802.11g, Bluetooth and GPS (with 1 free TomTom map).
Prices of new iPaqs have not yet been disclosed, but devices are expected in January´06.
