Intel May Cut Prices On Pentium 4 630/640
Intel has scheduled price cuts on its 64-bit 600-series Pentium 4 CPUs for August 14, according to unspecified motherboard makers. As reported on March 10, the unit prices for the Pentium 4 630 was originally supposed to be cut from US$224 to US$183 and the Pentium 4 640 was supposed to be cut from US$273 to US$224.
However, to better compete with the Athlon 64 series from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Intel has informed motherboard makers that the price cuts will be increased, the makers indicated.
The new cuts have the price of the P4 640 falling to US$218, while the P4 630 will drop to US$178.
In addition, Intel will introduce Pentium 4 662/672 processors for desktop PCs in the fourth quarter of this year.

The reader supports xD-Picture Card, SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO media and the ExpressCard/34 standard. Sized 34x75x5mm, it weighs 15g.
The novelty is expected to go on sale in September for the yet unknown price.
