ONKYO unveils WAVIO SE-90PCI soundcard
JapaneseONKYO, known by its high-quality audio equipment, unveiled the internal WAVIO SE-90PCI 2-channel soundcard based on VIA Technologies´ Envy24MT chip.
SE-90PCI is not the first PCI audio solution from the company. ONKYO is also selling the WAVIO SE-150PCI 7.1ch monster on Envy24HT (and the older WAVIO SE-80PCI is out of production).
The SE-90PCI, like the entire WAVIO series and company´s Hi-Fi solutions, supports the proprietary VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) technology reducing digital-analog conversion noise and distortions.
Unlike usual passive LF filters, VLSC is more intelligent. It adds the dynamic intermediate component with negative feedback that processes the incoming signal with inertia required to filter out the noise.
The Envy24MT enables to handle two analog-digital I/O at up to 24-bit/192kHz. The 24-bit/192kHz dual-channel DAC from WOLFSON provides some serious stereo quality.
The spartan functionality (2 x RCA and 1 x optical outputs with no inputs) of the low-profile SE-90PCI makes up for by the uncompromised analog circuitry made of high-quality electrolytic and film capacitors, fully symmetric outputs and copper shield plate.
SE-90PCI specs:
- 2 x gilded RCA outputs, 1 x optical digital output
- 0.3Hz to 44kHz frequency range (Line out, +0/-0.5dB)
- 110dB SNR (Line-out)
- 32/44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192 kHz sampling rate (optical digital output)
- Supports EAX 2.0, A3D 1.0, QSound
ONKYO SE-90PCI is to go on sale on May 25 for about $100.
