Alderwood – Canterwood´s successor?
Taiwanese press, referring to industrial sources, reported that this week Intel updated its Prescott-supporting chipset roadmap. Now, besides the four variants of Granstdale, the roadmap also features Alderwood core logic to replace Intel´s most powerful and expensive desktop chipset, i875P (Canterwood).
Alderwood, according to provisional information, will be first introduced in Q2 2004. All we know is that it will support 800MHz FSB and dual-channel DDR2. Perhaps, the company is just trying to delimit the Socket 478 and Socket 775 markets? Today, it´s still early to speak of it.
