SiS746FX-based reference mobo: the first sight
Our colleagues from the Chinese GZeasy have already tested the reference SS81B motherboard on the SiS746FX DDR400 chipset, officially announce yesterday. That’s how the board looks:
And that’s the picture of SiS746FX (A2 stepping) + SiS963LUA (C1 stepping) bundle:
SS81B-based testbed also featured AMD Athlon XP 2700+ with 166MHz FSB (Thoroughbred-B), and was tested with DDR333 and DDR400 memory.
The complete test readout from PC Mark2002 and 3D Mark2001SE is here (in Chinese, as you guess, but graphs are clear). Results from SPEC Viewperf 7.0 for Windows are here, from Sysmark2002 here, from Unreal Tourment 2003 and other game benchmarks here.
Any conclusions about SiS746FX performance are up to you. I, personally, think the chipset can be placed somewhere between KT400 and nForce2.
