ASUS P4P800S-E/P4P800S — two boards to be unveiled tomorrow

As it is told in tomorrow´s ASUSTeK Computer Inc. press-release, company "introduced" the ASUS P4P800S-E motherboard based on the latest Intel 848P chipset. The all-new motherboard supports Intel´s Pentium 4 processor on 800MHz FSB (front side bus) and future Prescott processor, and incorporated the exclusive Wi-Fi slot and revolutionary ASUS Intelligence (AI) features found only on ASUS solutions.

Besides supporting the 3.2GHz+ Pentium 4 processor on 800MHz FSB, the P4P800S-E is ready for Intel´s next-generation Prescott processor. Leveraging the Intel ICH5R chipset, which is the first South Bridge to integrate Serial ATA and RAID 0 and 1 functions, the motherboard comes equipped with fast data transfer at 150MB/sec and stripping and mirroring functions to enhance hard disk performance and data protection.

The Wi-Fi slot, based on the 802.11b standard, is specifically designed for the ASUS WiFi-b WLAN card to set up an environment for home wireless LAN. The ASUS WiFi-b WLAN card bundles the exclusive Software AP (access point) to save the extra cost of an actual AP. In addition, the card comes with user-friendly utilities and applications that allow quick connection to notebooks, PDAs and other WLAN peripherals. The exclusive slot also supports the 802.11g standard for future upgrades.

In the current Internet-driven economy, fast Internet connection is critical, and the P4P800S-E, with Intel´s CSA Gigabit LAN integrated, provides just that. Transferring data at 1000Mbps, CSA Gigabit LAN combines speed and stability.

For expansion, easy peripheral connectivity and high-speed data transfer, the P4P800S-E employed industry-leading specifications such AGP 8x graphics interface, IEEE 1394 and maximum 8 USB 2.0 ports.
