Transmeta Crusoe TM8000 aka Astro aka Efficeon: now sampling in 1.1GHz
Taiwanese The Digitimes posted fresh news on Transmeta´s Efficeon processor (former Crusoe TM8000) for inexpensive notebooks, consoles, web tablets.
The company has started sampling Efficeon to notebook makers. 1.1GHz model is expected to be the first to arrive in volumes. First notebooks on it should appear already in Q4 2003.
0.13-micron Efficeon processors are manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC); tested and packed – by Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE). The detailed specs will be announced by Transmeta at In-Stat/MDR´s Microprocessor Forum (MPF) scheduled to October 13-16 in San Jose, CA.
